In the same session of the 11th Legislature, the 72 deputies elected the members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
PAICV MP Janira Hopffer Almada was elected President of the National Assembly with 63 votes in favor, becoming the first woman to hold the position.
Adilson da Graça Jesus was elected to the position of first vice-president, with 65 votes in favor, three votes against, two abstentions, and two blank votes.
Former Secretary of State for Communities, Vanuza Barbosa, was elected second vice-president, obtaining 38 votes in favor, 20 votes against, 11 abstentions, and three blank votes.
For the position of secretary, Ana Paula Moeda received 64 votes in favor, six votes against, one abstention, and one blank vote. Also for the position of secretary, Anilda Monteiro Tavares was elected with 40 votes in favor, 15 votes against, 14 abstentions, and three blank votes.
Carlos Tavares Rodrigues was elected secretary of the Permanent Commission, with 64 votes in favor, six votes against, one abstention, and one blank vote.
The body's composition also includes representatives from parliamentary groups. The Movement for Democracy (MpD) will be represented by Orlando Dias, Carla Lima dos Santos will represent the parliamentary group of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), and João Santos Luís will be the representative of the Cape Verdean Union for Independence and Democracy (UCID).
